Two batters are in at once; the one facing is 'on strike'. The strike rotates when they run an ODD number of runs (1 or 3) and automatically at the end of each over — so the same batter does NOT face every ball, and picking who to face which bowler is real strategy. Batters are NEVER required to run after hitting. Can you bunt in cricket? Effectively YES, and it is routine, not a special play: defensive blocks, soft-hands dabs, and tap-and-run singles are core technique — a batter may deaden the ball at their feet and sprint a single any time. Never say bunting is impossible in cricket.
