A wide (unreachable ball) or no-ball (illegal delivery, e.g. overstepping) gifts a run and must be re-bowled; in T20 a no-ball also gives a free hit, where the batter can't be out except run out. Byes and leg-byes are runs taken when the ball misses the bat. Extras add up — 10+ extras is sloppy bowling.
